About the book
On May 9th, the Fundza Publishing Company launches the collection "Do Indico e Do Atlântico: Brazilian and Mozambican Tales" at the Centro Cultural Brasil-Moçambique on May 9th. The presentation of the work will be in charge of Nataniel Ngomane, academic and President of the Bibliographic Fund of Portuguese Language.
The book brings together short stories from seven Mozambican writers and seven Brazilians, and the story of its production begins with an invitation by author and editor Dany Wambire to editor Vagner Amaro of Malê Edições to jointly publish a book to help promote Mozambican literature in Brazil, and also to promote in Mozambique the literature of some of the leading contemporary authors in Brazil.
In this way, the Mozambican tales of Mia Couto (Rosalinda, no one), Lília Momplé (Stress), Alex Dau (Girl Teresinha), Diogo Araújo Vaz (Apocalipse), Dany Wambire (The Spare Woman) , Carlos dos Santos (The Illusionist) and Daniel da Costa (The Flute of the East) and the Brazilian short stories of Conceição Evaristo (The Feet of the Dancer), Marcelo Moutinho (Oxê), João Anzanello Carrascoza (Rare Days), Rafael Gallo ), Eliana Alves Cruz (Night without moon), Cristiane Sobral (223784) and Miguel Sanches Neto (Sabor).
For Mia Couto, visibly happy to be part of "a group of younger people," an anthology "is almost always the best way to start from a distant market." Because a selection of authors is made, continues the writer, one can at one time "project diverse names with different literary tendencies."
