This exhibition, for the benefit of "Works of Assistance to the Portuguese Soldier", was evident in the then Provincial Museum, of which the current Natural History Museum is a successor, organized by Augusto Cardoso, a Portuguese naval officer linked to colonial occupation. painter and amateur photographer of recognized merits; José de Almeida, director of the museum, and Alberto da Cunha Andrade, professor of design and director of the Commercial School. About 500 works were exhibited, lent by 50 residents of the Mozambican capital, covering painting and drawing, sculpture, engraving, lithography and water, photography, art objects, embroidery and lace, books and maps.
