Moreover, the fact that it is a bilingual book (Portuguese and English) will enable several audiences, mainly abroad, to interpret the works of Fany Mpfumo.
The book prefactor, Samuel Matusse, author of the book Fany Mpfumo and Other Icons, believes that to launch the Songbook, Tp50, Musicarquivo and Khuzula, reverence and contribute to the eternalisation of this man.
António Mariva Mpfumo (born in Lourenço Marques, October 18, 1928 - died in Maputo, November 3, 1987), popularly known as Fany Mpfumo, was a Mozambican musician, considered the "king" of marrabenta.
Pfumo began singing at the age of 7 and, in 1947, at the age of only 18, left Lourenço Marques, now Maputo, to South Africa, where thanks to his talent he soon gained sympathy and projection in the music world.
Pfumo's trademark style is characterized by mixing marrabenta rhythms with jazz elements as well as influences from South African kwela music. In Johannesburg, Pfumo had the opportunity to record with HMV, to achieve international fame with songs like Loko ni kumbuka Jorgina ("When I Remember Jorgina"); this, in particular, remains one of the best-known songs of Mozambican pop and marrabenta. He started in a number of bands during the 1950s and 1960s, but also recorded several solo singles.
