JNHDP introduces The Smooth Blend – Jazz Night and Dance Music
Wanda Baloyi is Afro-soul and R&B singer from Johannesburg. Following in the footsteps of her father Jaco Maria, lead singer of popular 80s act Ozila, Wanda first burst into the while still in high school in Johannesburg, as lead singer for girl-group Ghetto Luv in 2001. She went on to collaborate with Thembi Seete from well-known group Boom Shaka on ‘Sure Ntombazana’ for the hit TV series 'Yizi Yizo 2'. In 2003 she was offered an opportunity to record her first solo project voices with producer, guitar maestro Jimmy Dludlu. The resulting 'Voices' landed her a KORA Award for Best African Arrangement 2004, along with two Sama nominations and a Channel O music video nomination in 2005 and 2006. The album was followed by 'So Amazing' (2006) and 'Colours' (2009).
In 2013. she released 'Love and Life', produced by Kabomo, including the single ‘Bitter Sweetness’. She has performed at major festivals all over South Africa, as well as in Zimbabwe, Namibia and Nigeria.
