About the event
This is one of the ancient Kastila which is considered as one of the best Folk dance in saurashtra Region. The people of Patel, Rajput, Aahir, Bharvad, Mer communities perform this Ras at their social and religious function, Especially the people from all sector are celebrating Navratri and Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna by performing these Ras every where in Gujarat. This Ras has significance with the Krishna-Lila, the Love play of Lord Krishna with Gopi's narrated in Mahabharat. In performing this Ras, songs of Narsinh Mehta and Meerabai are song in Rhythm. This Ras is performed in Circle, Double Circle, Inside, Outside in Swastik Formation.
This Ras is performed by Ladies Artist for about 10 Minutes. This is a combination of Folk-Dance, Folk Music and Folk song. It is known as Ras Garba or Lok Rasada. This is performed is similar motion, rethm and clapping the hand in circle formation. This GARBA is an ancient art from the hence is called 'PRACHEEN GARBO'
This dance is performed in-Couple, that is, in pairs of male & female to symbolized LORD KRISHNA and GOPIS, This dance is based on the foot steps, Rhythm, and clapping of hand with each other. This dance is performed in different styles at different regions of Gujarat.
