About the event
The collective exhibition "Gineceu", is by a group of 8 artists, - Carmen Maria, Djamila de Sousa, Gracinda Percina Cumbe, Lica Sebastião, Maimuna Adam, Ulica Abrantes, Suzette Honwana (Tiassu) and Wacy Zacarias - is the result of a project promoted by the Kulungwana Association, which began in June 2018.
This collaborative project intends to cover artists from different areas, such as photography, textiles, jewelry, engraving and new media. It also includes artistic residences for experimentation, development and creation of new works and the promotion of new products.
Maimuna Adam, one of the participants in the project, says that the project "aims to intervene directly in the creation and positive re-creation and healing potential of the psychic wounds of female energy.
In this first show, the project focused on common materials, such as capulana, combs and 'mecha' (synthetic hair), among others, while experimenting with techniques including fabric dyeing and transfer like fingerprint on cloth.
The exhibition is curated by Maria Elisa Chim.
