The Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre (CCFM) will this Saturday (12-08), starting at 3:00 p.m., host the 8th edition of the National "Funhos no Ar" ["Fists Up"] Hip-Hop Festival.
Created in 2016 in a partnership between Nexta Vida Entertainment, Café Bar Gil Vicente and the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre, the annual "Fists Up" festival focuses on the Mozambican hip-hop scene.
In addition, it promotes an inter-provincial meeting space allowing important interchanges between aficionados and practitioners in the area and deepening of the ties that unite the makers of hip-hop culture in Mozambique.
"In this 8th edition we will have the five elements of Hip-Hop Culture, namely: MC, DJ, Graffiti, Break-Dance and 'Knowledge', in addition to which we will once again exalt National Unity, bringing together artists on the same stage musicians from the South (Maputo, Matola and Xai-Xai), Centre (Beira, Chimoio, Tete and Quelimane) and North of the Country (Nampula and Lichinga), with an eclectic program including: Music, Dance, Debate, Freestyle Battle, Hip Fair-Hop and Graffiti, making this event a unique moment of conviviality and living up to the main objective of the festival: exaltation of National Hip-Hop," the 'Franco' press release reads
The high point will be the day of the festival itself, (Saturday 12-08) at the Franco, where, among others, Duas Caras, Kloro, Trez Agah, Allan, Iveth, Legacy, Kay Real, Gina Pepa, Bokly, La Mad Life, King Bravo and Pier Dogg will perform.
