About Manuela Pimentel & JAS
Both born in the city of Porto, the two artists have dedicated themselves to a multifaceted activity, which includes painting, drawing, set design and video and, like the presentation text, by the writer Valter Hugo Mãe.
This curiosity and understanding of the other, leads the artists to collect "posters of the walls of all cities, choosing Japanese or Nepalese papers, alluding to different times and places without limit." The writer concludes, stating: "There is something of retribution, they are attentive to what others are, their references and history, and art appears as respect and knowledge. Each piece praises what it integrates, it's a way of integration."
The presence of Portuguese artists in the local galleries is a reason to arouse the interest of artists and the general public to visit the exhibition and to establish a fruitful dialogue, which may extend in the future, between these young Portuguese artists and the young Mozambican artists.
