ELECTRONIC MAPUTO – 3rd EDITION
The electronic music festival of Centro Cultural Franco-Mozambicano aims to show and promote the creation of national electronic music in its most diverse aspects.
In this 3rd edition, we bring as poster artists:
18:00 ::: KHATAZA
She started hes DJ career as a hobby in 2018, playing for hes dearest friends in private gatherings. She is an artist and entrepreneur who very quickly pleased several audiences, not only at events around the city of Maputo, but also in other provinces across Mozambique.
In this way she developed a taste for mixing her favorite songs from various popular and underground music genres.
Versatility is its trademark. Mixing from Afro House, Afro Tech, various genres of House Music and Afro Beat. Each set you offer your beloved audience is different from the last.
19H00 ::: AFRO MOMENT
The group Afro Moment, created and raised in Maputo, started long before they were created. Their musician father's Marrabenta guitar infusions, and his heritage of Timbila and ceremonial percussion from southern Mozambique.
The Mozambican duo is well known, with their live percussion and DJ set at parties, weddings and corporate events. Their debut album “Nights in Maputo” expresses what nightlife is like as the sun goes down in this part of Africa with local and international artists in this dance-heavy album.
DJ Bino, who is yet another of the brothers, moved to Johannesburg for two years in 2017, raising money and shipping sound and studio equipment across the border, while Dom Minito continued building his own studio in his childhood neighborhood of Malhangalene.
They recently participated in the collective session of Makeda's Drums Radio by Jaime Del Valle; where the duo received a lot of exposure on a global platform.
20H00 ::: DOUBLE DROP
Born in Maputo, Double Drop soon became interested in music. In 2006, he began his adventure in the world of production in styles such as HipHop and R&B. Today, he is back with a new creative line, following the evolution of the times, but always connected to his roots, having seen his music played by several renowned dj's such as Black Coffee, Lemon & Herb, DJ Chus, Hyenah, Gregor Salto para to mention a few, which allowed him to sign with major labels such as Afrocentric, MoBlack, Transa Records. With the talent of young producers flourishing in Mozambique, he decided to create his publishing house Xibalo.
9pm ::: JAKO MARON
Jako Maron is a sonic “alien”. A shooter for whom tradition rhymes with experimentation. On Reunion Island, he is the author of a rare combination, as an electro extension of the region's folklore. Influenced as much by old school hip-hop and dub, as by electronic bleep like Warp, he pushes the traditional musics of this corner of the world (maloya and sega) into a future free of restrictions.
22H00 ::: ASH ISMAEL
Ash Ismael is a producer/composer of experimental/progressive electronic music and contemporary visual artist from Maputo.
Musically, Ash Ismael composes from the end of 1995 to the present day.
It has an audio presence on all digital platforms and a vast portfolio of various musical styles, collaborations and experimental/artistic works.
