About DRP
In the mid-1990s, Luciano, DK and Gusto developed a deep passion for freestyle and composing rap lyrics. As the other members of B.T 2 (Kwitas, Fresh Nunas and Mollas) also knew and liked to rap, sing, write, compose and produce, they formed the group DRP.
The DRP - Dark Room Productions is a Mozambican rap group, refers to DaBrain's home studio where they created the songs: The room was dark with little or no light and the curtains closed.
In 2002, the group was officially formed and managed by DaBrain - the studio's main producer and owner. After a while, with several songs recorded, the DRP gained access to the studio of N'naite Chissano (Nehazi Productions), where the group orchestrated their debut album that was released on July 29, 2005 by Nehazi Productions.
The album titled "Once upon a Time" was produced by Leeleo, Mollas, DaBrain, Yillah and Kwitas. From 2005 to 2007, the group performed concerts in cities such as Beira, Nampula, Manzini and Mbabane (Swaziland) and Johannesburg (South Africa).
DRP released just two music videos, "Victory - Still Doing It" and "Get Together", but success was enough to keep the group on top until 2008, when they stopped to deepen their academic studies.
In 2004, DRP won the "Song of the Year" award, promoted by 9FM, for the song "So Good, So Right", produced by Mollas.
Since then, they have always remained close friends, but only a few members have continued to make music together due to the fact that the rest of the group are out of the country.
In 2017, 13 years later, the group decided to meet and work on their second album titled "Agora ou Nunca" (Now Or Never).
The DRP has already released two promotional singles, both produced by Leeleo, namely "Still Doin 'it - Part II" feat. DJ Tay and "Hoje Nao Vais Para Casa" (Today You Will not Go Home) with Nuno Abdul.
The DRP made several appearances on various TV and radio shows, and made their first public appearance at "Jameson Connects" on March 24 in Fortaleza. On June 16, they were the headliners of the "Festa da Música" promoted by the Centro Cultural Franco-Mocambicano.
