Conscious cinema session: Documentary “Baraka”
Baraka is an American film of 1992, an experimental documentary directed by Ron Fricke, cinematographer of Koyaanisqatsi, first of the trilogy Qatsi, of Godfrey Reggio. Often compared to Koyaanisqatsi, the main subject of Baraka is in fact similar, including footage from various landscapes, churches, ruins, religious ceremonies and cities, mixing with life, in a quest for each painting to capture the great pulsation of humanity in the activities.
The documentary was shot in 70 mm, colored in 23 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Nepal, Poland , Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey and USA. It does not contain dialogues or cohesive scenes, but only images and ambient sounds, conversations or chants, which can be considered the latent narrator of a universal spiritual intention.
