Classical music concerts in Maputo bring 10th Xiquitsi season to a close
The Xiquitsi Classical Music Season comes to an end with a series of concerts that promise to delight all music lovers.
"Noite Clássica" will take place at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center in Maputo; tickets at 500Mt.
The "Family Night" concert takes place on December 1st, also at 7:00 p.m., at the Church of Santo António da Polana; entry is free.
Finally, the "End of the Year Concert" will take place at 7:00 p.m. on December 2nd at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre, with tickets priced at 500Mt.
The concerts will feature solos by Ali Faque, Aniano Tamele, Lourena Nhate, Ubakka and Aido Boydrizzy, student of Projecto Cantate,Pemba.
"The Xiquitsi Choir and Orchestra will present their best performance with a maturity that reflects the project's 10 years of existence. This series will bring together four students from the Cantate music teaching project, developed by Kulungwana in the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Nampula, who will travel to Maputo to interact with Xiquitsi students and to participate in this series of concerts," the concert programme reads.
This last series of concerts brings together renowned Mozambican artists from diverse musical genres on the same stage who will give colour and life to the concert that closes the tenth season of Xiquitsi, creating a perfect symbiosis between Mozambican light and classical music, with guest artists playing and singing with the Xiquitsi orchestra and choir.
Over 10 years now, Xiquitsi has been a notable stage for social insertion, learning and socialisation, where children, teenagers and young people get a start in the world of music and gain life skills.
The Xiquitsi project currently has around 250 students distributed among violin, viola, cello, double bass, oboe, clarinet, percussion and singing classes.
