The film is a touching story about Yen, a lovely country girl who, aged just 10 years old, was forced into an arranged marriage to Hanh, a 9-year-old boy. Her life was subject to the ups-and-downs of her husband’s family. The film also portrays the strong perseverance and virtue of Vietnamese women as well as the search for happiness.
With “Yen’s life”, Dir. Dinh Tuan Vu made an excellent adaptation of the script based on a real life story, which is simple but very meaningful about lives of Vietnamese farmers before and after the 1945 August Revolution, especially the life and destiny of women in the past, their sacrifices and strengths in overcoming difficulties.
