Camões Maputo hosts ‘Sérgio Somos Nós’
The Camões-Portuguese Cultural Centre in Maputo will host the Sérgio Somos Nós Exhibition, a visual arts exhibition in homage to the Mozambican artist Sérgio Veiga. The inauguration took place on Wednesday 14 May, at the Camões Portuguese Cultural Centre Gallery in Maputo. The exhibition d will be open to the public from Mondays to Saturday 10am to 5pm. until 7 June. Entrance is free.
'Sérgio Somos Nós 'is a lively and affectionate celebration of Sérgio Veiga’s legacy, bringing together works by the artist himself – some previously unseen and available for sale – as well as works by family, friends and former students, including Luís Ofício and Matine, all of whom were deeply influenced by his presence and inspiration.
Influenced by surrealism and impressionism, Sérgio Veiga’s work reveals a strong connection to the sea, the African bush, wildlife and the culture of the Mozambican people. His artistic production is marked by poetic realism and a profound aesthetic sensitivity, reflecting an imaginary rooted in the essence of Mozambique.
