Marimba aims to value musical production, through its research, digitalization, promotion and international distribution On March 7th 2023 will be launched at Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo the first Marimba product: the book "Marrabenta: A Mozambican Cultural Heritage! an edition with Khuzula Editora seal.
This book is a reflection on the musical genre, Marrabenta, which has become one of the cultural symbols of Mozambique. Marrabenta is one of the main genres of local popular music, when we talk about the one that is produced in an urban context and directed to the consumption of the general public. It is characterized as a style of light music resulting from the mixture of various rhythms from the southern part of Mozambique, being performed on stages and accompanied with conventional the conventional instruments of contemporary popular music, such as drums, bass electric guitars, etc. Its popularity is such that it has become common for people to refer to it to define the country itself as a whole, with statements such as "Mozambique is the country of Marrabenta".
