Beyond the cement city- photo0graphc exhibition by Filipe Branquinho and Joca Faria
Born in Mozambique, he currently works as a freelancer in photography and illustration. In Brazil, the design and the illustration appear in a systematic and conscious way, through the contact with the artistic disciplines at UEL (State University of Londrina / Brazil) along with the training in architecture. It is also in this context that he decides to experience photography as art. He has participated in several collective and individual exhibitions in Brazil, Mozambique and South Africa. He has several works in private collections, in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Londrina, Brazil, and the Camões Institute in Maputo.
The focus of this work is a certain social group that represents a majority and that is present in all the urban fabric: in the great centers, in the suburbs, in the coastal zone, in the private condominiums, etc. Each photograph is singular and intends to dignify the person portrayed in the exercise of his occupation and in the way in which this dialogues with the space he occupies. It is in the set of portraits that the cities are unveiled, in the light that surrounds them, in their palette of colors and in the history of the people who live there.
Mozambican with more than 20 years of experience in the field of image and communication and 10 years of experience in project management and customer management. He began his career in Portugal in 1992 and since 1994 he began his participation in the production of several institutional films and documentaries. With experience also in video post-production, he has worked for clients such as Expo 98, Colgate, Johnnie Walker, among others.
In 2001, he created his company in the field of communication, advertising, video and photography design. He was in charge of the photography and video department as well as the project management and clients of the company.
In photography he is responsible for the whole process, from the initial concept to the post-production of the final image.
In Mozambique since 2009, he has worked with the largest agencies and advertisers in the country, having photographed the main campaigns of the Mcel and Vodacom brands, BancABC, Standard Bank, Mozambique Fashion Week (MFW), HCB, DDB, Mcel, Golo, Vumba, Mozfoods and Port of Maputo among others.
