About the event
As part of the Writer of the Month initiative, the Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo dedicates the month of April to the writer Pedro Pereira Lopes.
With the objective of deepening the knowledge of the author 's work, a session entitled "Journey around the word of Pedro Pereira Lopes" will be held on April 16 moderated by the academic Aurelio Ginja, at the Camões Library - Portuguese Cultural Center. The session will also include reading excerpts from the works "The Man with the 7 Hairs", "Kanova and the Secret of the Skull", "Journey through the World in a Grain of Pollen" and Other Poems and "The World We Will Stutter by Color".
About Pedro Pereira Lopes
Pedro Pereira Lopes was born in the province of Zambézia, Mozambique, in 1987. He studied Public Policy at the Beijing University School of Governance. He writes poetry, short stories and has published a novel. He published the children's books The Man with the 7 Hairs (2012, Lusofonia Prize 2010), Kanova and the Secret of the Skull (2013), Journey Around the World in a Grain of Pollen and Other Poems (2014), The Story of João Gala-Gala (2017, in co-author with the musician Chico António and The train that walked in slippers (2018, Prize Maria Odete de Jesus 2016).
He also published the compilation of short stories about the world that we will stammer with color (2017), and the world romance grave (2018, Literary Prize INCM / Eugénio Lisboa 2017). He is a member of the Mozambican Writers' Association and a professor and researcher at the Joaquim Chissano University in Maputo. According to writer and literary critic António Cabrita, "Pedro Pereira Lopes is one of the most interesting voices in the new panorama of letters in Mozambique" and "will be one of the summit figures of the new generation".
About Aurélio Ginja
Aurélio Ginja is a professor at the Polytechnic University, graduated in Education from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais and a graduate in Linguistics from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. Currently working as Coordinator of the Office of Student Attention in the School of Management, Sciences and Technologies of the Polytechnic University and teaching the subjects of Intercultural Communication, Organizational Communication, Linguistics and Literature.
