About the event
Albino Mbie, a multi-award-winning composer, guitarist, singer, music producer, sound engineer and entrepreneur, was born in the Benfica neighborhood of Maputo. Attracted by the sounds of street musicians in the outlying districts of the Mozambican capital, Albino began playing in some local bands incorporating various elements into his music. However, in order for his talent to grow, he knew he needed new experiences, new places, cultures and sounds. Also as a student of music education and performance at ECA - School of Communication and Arts, Eduardo Mondlane University, he received a scholarship to join Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, where he was able to expand his musical horizons by being exposed to a variety of influences, going deeper into the roots of jazz and broadening his knowledge of music.
Albino is now releasing his second album titled "Mafu" after "Mozambican Dance" which has two awards: First place at the World Music International Song Writing in the USA and Revelation Award at Ngoma Mozambique, both in 2014. As a music producer he highlights still the most popular music award of the year with Mr. Bow's “Massinguitana” (Ngoma Mozambique 2014) and third place with the song “Ntsume” in World music by International Song Writing (USA) in 2016.
