About the concert
“Alambique” is a Mozambican musical band created in 1984 by Hortêncio Langa and Arão Litsure. These two musicians (who were part of an acoustic trio with João Cabaço) decided to create the group in order to explore new rhythms and sounds, using new approaches, merging traditional melodies of Mozambican folk song with harmonies of jazz and bossa nova.
In subsequent years “Alambique” established itself in the national music arena as a Mozambican jazz-fusion band, performing remarkable experiments with the composition of its own themes and the “jazzy” harmonization and interpretation of themes of traditional song and urban folk music.
“Alambique” was one of the protagonists of the jazz sessions animated by Ricardo Rangel, a great jazz enthusiast, in the pasture houses of the capital, during the 90's until his disintegration. They toured Scandinavia, namely: Sweden, Norway, Denmark (1987), Finland and also Zimbabwe (1990).
Considering the dynamics of the development of the cultural sector, due to the emergence of new academically trained musicians and instrumentalists, "Alambique" returns to the stage to pursue the musical and artistic objectives in a bolder perspective, adding a section of wind and percussion, with the integration. from musicians coming from Eduardo Mondlane University School of Communication and Arts and a bassist with proven experience.
Currently the band includes the following musicians:
1. Hortêncio Langa (band leader) - vocals and guitar
2. Arão Litsure - vocals, guitar and saxophone
3. Adérito Gomate - keyboards
4. Armindo Salato - vocals and bass
5. Almeida Ngoca - drums
6. Alcídio Pires - percussion
7. Sarmento - saxophone
8. Arsénio Nhauando - trombone
