A triumph of solidarity at the “Strong Together” event
The Supa Woman Association, founded by the Mozambican artist and activist Kátia Vanessa, is proud to announce the overwhelming success of its “Strong Together: Awareness and Support Campaign for Oncological Patients” event, held on Sunday, 16 November 2025, at the Salão da Associação Luta Contra a Pobreza in Maputo.
“Because together we are stronger, we unite today with empathy, positivity and love in the fight against and prevention of cancer,” stated Kátia Vanessa, President of the Supa Woman Association.
This was the third event organised by the Supa Woman Association, focusing on cancer awareness and fundraising to support oncological patients. Under the theme “In unity there is Love. And in Love there is the Cure,” this edition successfully promoted community cohesion, empathy and solidarity.
Event highlights
The event, which ran from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, was an important moment for health, education and inspiration, featuring a comprehensive programme that included:
- Health and diverse fair: Focused on well-being and a range of services.
- Breast cancer screening and rapid tests: Essential health services offered to the community.
- Lectures: Addressing the causes, prevention and treatment of breast, cervical and prostate cancer.
- Testimonials from winners: Inspiring stories shared by courageous women and men.
- Fashion show, music, dance and more!: A vibrant display of life and hope.
Our collective contribution
All participants were invited to contribute in kind, goods or monetary value to support patients admitted to the Oncology Department of HCM (Hospital Central de Maputo). The tremendous collective generosity showcased the true spirit of the “Strong Together” project.
The Supa Woman Association, whose mission is to empower women and communities to achieve meaningful progress towards a more just and inclusive society, thanks everyone who participated, volunteered and sponsored this important moment of solidarity and celebration of life.
This third successful event reinforces the Association’s commitment to social empowerment and to strengthening personal, social and professional skills, demonstrating that, “Strong Together”, we can make a significant difference in the fight against cancer.
