3rd Edition of the Marine Biodiversity Conference, Beira – Mozambique, 2025
The Foundation for Biodiversity Conservation – BIOFUND, a private, non-profit, public utility Mozambican institution dedicated to the mobilization, application and management of financial resources for the benefit of Biodiversity Conservation in Mozambique, is pleased to announce the 3rd Edition of the Marine Biodiversity Conference, which will take place in the City of Beira, at the Urban Green Infrastructure Park – Casa dos Bicos, from June 5th to 11th, 2025.
The first edition of this conference took place in Maputo City, from July 27 to August 2, 2023, with the active participation of 470 people and the involvement of more than 30 partners.
The second edition took place in the City of Nacala-Porto, Nampula Province, from 11 to 23 June 2024, bringing together a total of 793 in-person participants and more than 6,000 online participants over the two days of the event, in addition to the involvement of 548 students from 20 schools in the coastal districts of Nampula.
After two successful years of this event in the south and north of the country, this year the city of Beira, located in the central region, will host a two-day conference, accompanied by a seven-day exhibition and fair. The event aims to disseminate, discuss and exchange experiences on Ecosystem-Based Adaptation, the importance of Marine Conservation Areas and the value of Mozambique’s Marine Biodiversity.
The conference will bring together experts in the field, researchers, conservationists, members of coastal communities and decision makers committed to the Conservation of Coastal and Marine Biodiversity in the country.
