The creation of the Mozambican Army dates back to the beginning of the 1989, when, on May 25, 1962, a MANU, initially called the National African Union of Macao, and the National Democratic Union of Mozambique, UDENAMO, in the presence of Eduardo Mondlane, meet in Tanzania to discuss and adopt the protocol for the unification of Mozambican Nationalist Movements, and later joined UNAMI (National African Union of Independent Mozambique).
