- Mozambique experienced huge progress after its civil war ended in 1992. It has been the fastest growing, non-oil economy in sub-Saharan Africa in the last 15 years.
- However, this growth has not led to a corresponding reduction in poverty. Three out of 4 people in Mozambique live below the poverty line.
- Access to even the most basic services, such as water, healthcare and schooling is limited.
