The health sector has acquired 37 new containerised vehicles for the distribution of medicines and medical articles throughout Mozambique.
The vehicles, valued at US$2 million, were secured with Global Fund funding, and were accepted yesterday in Maputo in a ceremony headed by Minister of Health, Nazira Abdula.
Minister Abdula used the occasion to stressed that the sector was seeking to improve the overall distribution chain of medicines in Mozambique, in order to ensure their availability in health facilities.
He urged health unit management committees, community leaders and neighbourhood structures to follow up closely on availability.
Speaking next, the president of the Global Fund’s Mozambique Coordinating Mechanism, Marechal Nhavoto, reiterated the importance of support for the distribution of medicines in the country.
The delivery ceremony was attended by cooperation partners and staff from the Ministry of Health.
