Mozambique is to be the “partner country” at the 23rd Macau International Fair (MIF) organised by the Macau Institute for the Promotion of Trade and Investmento (IPIM), the institution has announced.
The trade fair is to run from 18 to 20 October with a focus on the advantages of Macau as a platform to service einternational cooperation between China and Portuguese-language countries, IPIM said in a statement.
Last week representatives from the institute visited Mozambique to promote the fair and beef up cultural contacts, and were received by the prime minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, who expressed interest in using Macau to develop China markets and those of other Portuguese-language countries to attract more companies to invest in the African country.
MIF is held annually in October with the aim of boosting trade cooperation and interchange. It is to coincide with the Exposition of Products and Services of Portuguese-Language Countries (PLPEX).
At last year’s MIF, where Angola was the partner country, more than 1,000 companies and other organisations took part from some 50 countries and regions.
