A 17-year-old girl was physically assaulted, forced to have sex with her offenders, and then murdered in Matola municipality’s Ndlavela neighbourhood last week. The rapists have not yet been identified, though residents have said it is the second time a woman has been raped and killed in less than a month.
The body of the victim was discovered last Friday (16-03), in a yard where she was allegedly dragged before her rape and murder.
Information on the case is hard to come by, and police on the scene referred enquiries to the National Criminal Investigation Service, who did not respond to requests.
Ndlavela residents, meanwhile, are decrying the absence of law enforcement during what they consider a resurgence of crime in both public spaces and residences.
Some people have already been shot dead in their own homes by thugs who have not been identified or brought to justice, which disturbs residents, who say they live in constant fear.
