Mozambique's external deficit widens in 2024 despite investment growth
Mozambique’s National Institute of Social Security (INSS) plans to use facial recognition and fingerprint software in its proof of life tests from this year on, it announced today in a statement.
“The completion of the process of digital migration of pensioners’ data to a database is planned for March,” INSS director general Alfredo Mauaie explained.
The operation will allow the annual ‘Proof of Life’ examination to be held in digital format for the first time next April., said Mauaie. The use of a computer systems to handle all pensioners’ data will reduce the waiting time for the payment of the benefits, he added.
The current waiting time for the payment of pensions is around 90 days, which may be reduced to 15, while the wait for the delivery of subsidies should decrease from 30 days to seven.
