Yoloanda Kakana is the name adopted by Yolanda Chicane, a young Mozambican who started her musical career in 2003. In 2004, Yolanda joins producer and guitarist Jim Gwaza (Azarias Arone) and togther they founded banda Kakana with the aim of using the gift given by God to express love, peace as well as the bitter truth of the present world using sweet melodies.
Kakana identifies itself with the fusion of several musical styles emphasizing Afro, Rock and Jazz and compositions written in several languages. Throughout her career, Kakana has garnered several awards including: Best voice (Top Ngoma in 2007, 2010 and 2012), Revelation (Top Ngoma in 2007), Fusion award (Top Ngoma in 2010), Best band (Top Ngoma in 2009) and Fusion award (Mozambique Music Awards - MMA in 2010).
