Mozambique: ENI Open Day
Theatre: Mima/Stones
It is a show dedicated to children and young people. This show is 2 in 1. The first part is called Mima and is for children from 4-5 years. When it is for a public from the age of 10-11, the whole show Mima/Stones is presented.
The Mima/Stones solo is a fictional, intimate and personal narrative that Sufaida Moyane shares with the public around such complex and delicate subjects as sexuality and sexual abuse.
The staging of Rogério Manjate deliberately mixes various styles and languages in search of the balance between text, the physical and the visual, in search of a particular theatricality. And it deals with this theme with the delicacy necessary for a young audience to enjoy watching and at the same time gain awareness on the subject. The body. Sexuality. The good touches. The bad touches. Sexual violence.
MIMA is woven of little stories, fragments of childhood memories of a girl who just wanted to play: the game, the invention, the fantasy, the dreams ... MIMA also ends the trajectory of the transformation of the body that puberty causes. The chest grows, the hips and her bum develops... and all the whys.
STONES: But before MIMA even enjoyed the metamorphosis, the STONES arrive with their looks and long hands ... they impose themselves. And it becomes very difficult to understand what is happening, and to escape... because violence is perpetrated by the stones of the house garden.
MIMA/PEDRAS moves between childhood and interrupted adolescence and that gives birth to a woman hastily, who keeps her fears under the bed carpet.
