Folha de Maputo / 390 thousand students are writing their final exams in Mozambique
The Minister of Education and Human Development, Conceita Sortane, urged examinees to refrain from using non-approved tactics in the final exams under way since yesterday throughout the country.
Sortante was speaking on Monday at the Josina Machel High School in Maputo, where she witnessed the beginning of the Grades 10 and 12 secondary education examinations involving 264,652 and 126,617 students respectively nation-wide.
“We ask the parents to cooperate at this emotional moment and motivate their children not to falter and cheat while the examinations are going on,” Sortane said.
Students in 10th grade will take five exams, three in letters (Portuguese, English and History) and two in exact sciences (Mathematics and Biology). The 12th grade subjects depend on students’ subject choices.
The Education and Human Development department has announced that 8,166 examiners, jury teams and supervisors were trained to supervise the exams and prevent fraud.
