The National Defence Minister, Atanásio M’tumuke, yesterday swore into office new directors of the institution.
They are Ezequiel Muianga, who now occupies the position of commander of the Army; Francisco Marecula Castelo, for the Chief of Staff of the Mozambican Navy, and Custódio Fernando Massingue, appointed Head of Communication and Image Department, Economic Advisory and Civic Service of Mozambique.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Minister M’tumuke said that the long experience accumulated during the time the nominees directed sensitive sectors in the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM) is reassuring and a sign that henceforth, verticality in command and leadership, as well as a scrupulous respect of superior decisions will be increasingly consolidated and fluid.
According to the Defence Minister, the dismissal, appointment and swearing in of new cadres is a result of the regular refreshment and adjusting of centrally defined goals for an efficient and effective implementation of the Government’s Five Year Program (2015-2019) and the Economic and Social Plan for this year, as to the four pillars of the Defence sector, namely training, infrastructure, logistics and military health.
At the time, the minister of National Defence called on the staff and officials of the sector for an increasingly tight combat against acts of nepotism, favouritism and corruption.
