Mozambique: Mozambique: Maputo park 'optimistic' about earning World Heritage status
The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) is forecasting a heat wave with temperatures ranging from 35 to 40 degrees Celsius from Tuesday (24) to Thursday (26) in Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane, Sofala, Manica, Zambézia and Tete.
The heat wave is expected to affect all districts in the provinces of Maputo and Gaza; the districts of Zavala, Inharrime, Panda, Homoíne, Jangamo, Funhalouro, Mabote and the cities of Inhambane and Maxixe in Inhambane province; Marromeu, Caia, Chemba, Marínguè and Cheringoma in Sofala province; Guro and Tambara in Manica province; Morrumbala, Maganja da Costa, Nicoadala, Chinde, Namacurra, Mopeia and Quelimane in Zambezia province; and Mutarara, Moatize, Chiúta, Chifunde, Maravia, Changara, Cahora Bassa and Tete city in Tete province.
INAM recommends taking all precautionary and safety measures associated with thunderstorms and gusty winds, which may occur due to high temperatures and sudden changes in weather conditions.
