The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, reacted today to the death of Nampula mayor, Mahamudo Amurane, who was murdered yesterday outside his house. Nyusi says he received the news of Amurane’s shooting with a sense of shock and deep sadness.
For the President, “this is a heinous act and vigorously reprehensible in all senses, regardless of its motivations, especially since it occurs on the day we celebrate peace, reconciliation and harmony within the Mozambican family. “It is a vile crime that runs counter to the efforts and the call we make to all our compatriots to do their part to preserve this peace that constitutes the sacred heritage of all Mozambicans, ” said Nyusi.
In this sense, Filipe Nyusi, who considered the murder brutal and irrational, urges the forces of law and order “to do everything possible to clarify as quickly as possible the situation in which the crime occurred, so that its perpetrators are identified , neutralised, taken to the bar of justice and, exemplary, punished “.
On the other hand, Nyusi called on all Mozambicans to remain calm and cooperate with the relevant investigative bodies.
On behalf of the Government, the people and in his own name, the President of the Republic addressed condolences to the bereaved family.
