CTA holds seminar on taxation of alcoholic beverages and tobacco in Mozambique

The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) today held a seminar on the ‘Contribution of the Tobacco and Alcoholic Beverages Sector to the State Coffers’ in Maputo.
According to CTA Executive Director Eduardo Sengo, CTA’s 2017-2020 Strategic Plan calls for direct assistance to companies through the removal of constraints on business, and for growing the economy in search of greater private sector contribution to state revenue.
In furtherance of this objective, CTA is promoting open dialogue with the government to identify and remove barriers to business, especially those impacting the time, cost and procedures involved in the exercise of economic activity.
The overall objective of the seminar is to reflect on the current framework, challenges and prospects for the development of the tobacco and alcohol sector.
About 200 people from various institutions participate in this event, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Tax Authority; Ministry of Industry and Commerce; Chamber of Customs Brokers of Mozambique; Association of Producers and Importers of Alcoholic Beverages; Association of Informal Importers, cooperation partners and other guests.
