Frelimo president and Mozambican head of state, Filipe Nyusi, will again be the candidate to presidency of the ruling party in 2019, announced the new secretary general of the political force, Roque Silva Samuel.
The decision was “unanimously and by acclamation” approved during the works of the 11th Frelimo Congress, which ended this morning in Matola city, outskirts of Maputo.
The announcement confirms the intention of the current president, elected in 2014, to run for a second term.

In addition to Armando Guebuza, the former Mozambican head of state Joaquim Chissano [1986-2005] is honorary president of the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo).
