“SMEs Entrepreneurial Women Award motivated me to grow the Luzacrédito, innovate and make the difference”

O País / Luzacrédito has offices in the cities of Maputo and Matola and employs about 20 workers.

Founded in August 2013, Luzacrédito specialises in granting loans to low-income people, who do not have access to bank credit, and to SMEs who want to strengthen the business without having to wait long for approval by conventional banks. At present, the company has offices in the cities of Maputo and Matola and employs around 20 people.

How did you find receiving the Entrepreneurial Woman award at the latest Best 100 SME Awards?

It was very good, although we were hoping to win the title of best SME. The SME Entrepreneurial Woman award made us very happy, because we think this prize is well deserved.

What was the prize and how did you find it?

I received insurance from Fidelidade Seguros and a technological tool from Human Resources from ITIS. I couldn’t have won better prizes. They have been very useful and I’m very grateful for them.

But the real prize was immeasurable, because in addition I felt motivated to grow Luzacrédito, to innovate and to make a difference. I want to be able to win the first position, that is, the Best SME of the Year, and I am working hard to bring that about. In short, this distinction motivated me greatly.

Do you think the Prize is a good business network, where, in addition to the awards, it is possible to meet other companies and foster partnerships?

It is a great space to meet and get yourself known, and foster partnerships, because it brings entrepreneurs together in the same space and ends up becoming a good opportunity to establish partnerships with other entrepreneurs.

What incentive should other SMEs have to participate in the project?

My incentive is for SMEs to take advantage of this opportunity – but the prize money is the smallest part of the winnings. It’s important to get to know the work of others so that we can improve our own. This builds us up and increases our motivation, among the other benefits that can only be experienced when we participate. So let’s participate!
