SOMAS has as vocation the defense of the Rights of the Authors through a system of Collective Management of these rights in representation of its members. Thus, the creation of the institution on the initiative of the Authors themselves reveals their awareness that the collective management of copyright provides the adequate protection, in a better efficiency and efficiency, of copyright, since the collection at risk Of each individual author, of the remuneration owed by the various users of his works, would result, in net terms, in more costs than benefits, in the event that they reached a satisfactory agreement with all.
