Mozambique: Seventeen roads undergoing maintenance work

All 51 candidates for driving instructor in Mozambique failed the certification exam this year, the daily Notícias reports, citing the National Institute of Land Transport (INATTER).
The general secretary of the Association of Driving Schools of Mozambique (AECOMO) said that the mass failure may have been caused by forgetfulness, since the training ended in January and the application for the certification exam in February.
“We finished the training in January and submitted the certification applications in February, but only now have they been evaluated. In that time, a lot can happen, and they may have forgotten some subjects,” he said.
The exam lasted one hour and consisted of 50 questions on subjects taught by AECOMO.
“AECOMO is the training body. INATTER only certifies candidates that they approve”, Manuel Antonio, director of Surveillance, Inspection and Certification Services at INATTER, said.
António said that the average of correct answers was 28 and that top candidate scored only 38 against a minimum pass rate of 45 correct answers.
“We are concerned that all 51 candidates have failed, but at the institutional level we are satisfied because the system is effective and adheres to the quality required on our roads,” Antonio added.
