The Speaker of Parliament the Republic of Mozambique Verónica Macamo said today in Maputo that there was no irregularity in the purchase of the Mercedes-Benz vehicles for members of the Standing Commission, Notícias reports.
Veronica Macamo, speaking to journalists after a meeting with a United Nations delegation visiting the country, said that “if you look at the protocol list, [you will see that] the members of the Standing Commission are above ministers, therefore, in legal terms and procedures we did not see any problem, [also] because the Mercedes were not bought now, as has been practical, ” she said.

Verónica Macamo added that “we are not so irresponsible that we buy cars at this point, there is no one who would do such a thing.”
“What we were told by the Prime Minister, corroborated by the Minister of Economy and Finance, is that, indeed, the order was made in 2015,” explained Veronica Macamo, reaffirming that it is not the Assembly of the Republic who buys vehicles.
