An Asian individual in possession of four ivory objects was detained at Beira International Airport as he attempted to board a flight for Indonesia yesterday.
The objects were wrapped in plastic inside two pairs of shoes in a suitcase. The accused man told reporters he was taking the items home to Indonesia after buying them at the central market in Beira.
Police said the arrest of the man was made possible by high-end police equipment in service at Beira international airport.
According to A Verdade, the 29-year-old was being held at the 9th Police Station in Beira.
