Heavy fog kept Mozambique Airlines (LAM) aircraft grounded until 8:20 a.m. today. A LAM source cited by Folha de Maputo say technical teams decided to suspend flights because of poor visibility until atmospheric conditions improved.
According to the same source, the 6:30 a.m. TM 190 flight from Maputo to Lichinga and TM 301 to Johannesburg were both affected, as was the 7:00 a.m. TM100 flight to Beira and the 12h30 p.m. TM 126 to Inhambane and Vilanculos, since one of the aircraft involved in the latter still had a leg to do.
At 05h00 a.m. today, visibility at Maputo airport was 50 metres, much less than the 400 metres and 800 metres recommended for take-offs and landings respectively.
