The Mozambican capital, Maputo, can expect to have a new shopping centre on Avenida Marginal within five months, the group promoting the project has told Lusa.
The construction of Baía Mall, which is occupying more than 600 workers, “is 75 percent complete” and “the opening is scheduled for November”, the source said.
According to the same source, less than a quarter of the stores are still to lease and leases have been signed with Mozambican and international reference tenants, some opening in Mozambique for the first time.
“At the moment there are very advanced negotiations with Portuguese companies in the catering, banking and clothing sectors,” he added.
The facilities “are in compliance” with the standards that international brands “are accustomed to demanding”.
Among the attractions of the new shopping centre will be one of the largest gyms in Maputo, covering an area of about 1,400 square meters.
