“Naturally, among the issues discussed, were the exchange of experience between the two parliaments in the area of legislation and the support to the development and finalization of agreements being prepared by the executive authorities of Mozambique and Russia. The two parliaments will lay the groundwork of a visit by President Nyusi to Russia,” Umhanov said.
“We have prepared proposals to be presented to the Mozambican government. I wish to emphasize that President Nyusi stressed the importance of maintaining the existing proximity between our two countries and the role that the parliaments of our two countries can play in this process,” he added.
The Russian delegation is the first to visit Mozambique in the last two years.
The president also met Lynda Chalker, Baroness of Wallasey and former British Minister for International Development, yesterday.
According to the Baroness, the meeting covered the best way to attract investment to Mozambique, so that the country can make the most of the huge oil, gas and other natural resources for the development and welfare of all Mozambicans.
“Obviously, we also talked about the efforts being made by President Nyusi to achieve peace, and how Renamo must do their part. And we think that we need is not to fight for peace, but we must work to find peace, because this is very important,” she said.
