The Frelimo Central Committee will debate Mozambique’s economic, political and social situation and progress towards restoring peace today Friday and Saturday, spokesman António Niquice said yesterday at a press conference.
The economic, political and social situation in Mozambique will be the focal point of the Fourth Extraordinary Session of the Central Committee of the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo), which will take place in Maputo.
“All stakeholders in Mozambican society have been working positively to consolidate a lasting and effective peace in our homeland and this is a subject that will dominate the session,” the ruling party spokesman said.
The debate on the plan and budget and the level of preparedness for the 11th party congress of the will also be on the agenda.
“It is important to mention that the process of preparation for the 11th Congress has been taking place in a normal, peaceful, orderly and festive atmosphere, which is the hallmark of Frelimo’s internal democracy,” Niquice added.
As part of preparations for the next congress, Frelimo will elect the delegates and new organs of the provincial committees in June, after elections for the district and grassroots bodies.
“Following the provincial conferences and the improvement of the theses and instruments that guide the agenda of the congress, the conditions will be fulfilled so that, at the congress, Frelimo will be more and more strengthened, united and cohesive,” Niquice explained.
The 11th Frelimo congress will take place between September 26 and October 1.
