Moonchild Sanelly, Elo, Robin Thirdfloor and Fortune Shumba are performing in Maputo on Saturday, February 13.
On Friday 12 February the same artists represented by Post Post, will rock House on Fire, the renowned Swazi club that organises the annual BushFire Festival. They will be supported by Spirit Indigenous, Joseph Alexander and DJ Chuidy.
On Saturday 13th the troupe will headline the Lovers Rock party in Maputo, supported by The Dub Cousins and Majestic Sound System.
Then the following weekend, they will take over Durban for two days in various shows, before coming back to Johannesburg for the tour closing shows.
Headed by producer Tshepang Ramoba, drummer of afro-rock band BLK JKS, POST POST is a Joburg-based music agency committed to releasing the freshest alternative sounds. Tshepang says “We are very excited about this regional tour, powered by Concerts SA. It is great to be able to share, live, the music of these amazing artists in Maputo, Swaziland and across South Africa, before we go on our next international tour to USA and Europe. We’ll see our artists on stages at SWSX (Texas), CMJ (New York), Primavera Sound (Barcelona) and Midem (Cannes): 2016 is going to be a good year for Post Post!”
Tshepang produced “Rabubi” (Just Music, 2015), the first album of Moonchild, a South African alternative poet and singer carving out a new sound for herself that she calls “future ghetto funk”. Her style is a result of an array of musical influences- and with her uncanny ability to weave tales and warnings of social ills with an upbeat tempo, she is creating a richly textured sound. The other female vocalist on tour, Elo, draws her influences from jazz, soul and house, but the biggest clear foundation for her sound is rock. She will be releasing her first EP, “EloGram”, in March on the POST POST music label.
Robin Thirdfloor is an indie hip-hop act from Durban, who counts Andre 3000 of Outkast as his biggest influence. Robin incorporates funky choreography into his performances, mixed with his interactive, open conversation with his audience. His approach is intimate and transcends the traditional hip hop act. His recent release “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” preludes his upcoming EP. Lastly, Mpumanlanga native Fortune Shumba debuted recently with his single “Free Heart”, which will be included in his forthcoming EP, “Dawn”.
All these artists will be supported live by Tshepang under his Rambo moniker. Rambo is a sought after DJ who is a constant fixture at trendy Joburg spot, Kitcheners. His mixes have been featured on okayafrica.com and his remixes released by labels such as Awesome Tapes from Africa.
The tour of Post Post is supported by the Music Mobility Fund, a funding mechanism administered by Concerts SA which offers opportunities for South African musicians to undertake live music tours.
Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian initiative housed under the auspices of the Stakeholder Hub within the SAMRO Foundation; it receives financial, administrative and technical support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the SAMRO Foundation and Concerts Norway. The project aims to support live music in South Africa by finding and implementing ways to create a vibrant and viable live music circuit. It also aims to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.
