“I confirm that the elections on 4 May are ruled void and will take place on a future date to be announced,” Quessanias Mastombe’s campaign director Mateus Tembe said.
According to Tembe, the CTA will explain to the court on May 11 how and why Matsombe’s candidacy was rejected, leaving only one candidate, Agostinho Vuma.
“It is a decision rendered in an interim order and it is therefore provisional until the court itself decides otherwise. On May 11, the CTA will be heard in the aforementioned precautionary measure,” a statement from Quessanias’ candidacy office reads.
When excluded from the proceedings, Matsombe said that he would appeal to the court. His supporters received the court’s response, bringing the case before the judiciary and notifying the CTA to appear before the court, at about 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Electoral Commission, Pedro Baltazar, told O País at around 5:30 p.m. yesterday that he had not yet had any official information from the Confederation of Economic Associations and therefore could not confirm the suspension of the elections scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 4 May.
