The head of the Mozambican government delegation in negotiations with Renamo José Pacheco yesterday vigorously supported the opposition party’s disarmament, blaming the movement for the flight of 4,000 people to Malawi.
“Nowhere in the world are political party allowed weapons,” said Pacheco, who is also Minister of Agriculture and Food Security and was speaking at a press conference in Tete province, central Mozambique reported by Radio Mozambique.
Pacheco blamed the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo) for the situation of the 4,000 people living in camps in Malawi as a result of the political and military unrest in central Mozambique.
