Mozambique: We use 'legitimate means' to disperse protesters - police

Gunmen on Thursday morning attacked four civilian vehicles travelling along Mozambique’s main north-south highway, the EN1, on the stretch between the Save River and the small town of Muxungue in the central province of Sofala.
According to Radio Mozambique, the eight occupants of the vehicles survived although there have been some minor injuries.
The head of the Muxungue administrative post, Domingos Fernando, explained that the four separate attacks took place at Zove between six and seven in the morning. He stressed that none of the victims have been hospitalized.
Radio Mozambique reported that the defence and security forces are now in the area and that traffic along the EN1 has returned to normal.
In 2014 gunmen from the country’s largest opposition party, Renamo, carried out several attacks along this stretch of road.
Fears that these attacks would resume were raised on Monday when the Renamo head of mobilization in Sofala province, Horacio Calavete, warned that Renamo would set up road blocks along the EN1.
