The French government will give Mozambique 500,000 euros in a fourth instalment of the Mozambican debt pardon by France, following agreements reached by President Filipe Nyusi during his visit to the European country last year.
The document formalizing the granting of the amount was signed on Friday in Maputo by Mozambican Economy and Finance minister, Adriano Maleiane, and the French ambassador to Mozambique, Bruno Clerc.
“This figure is the last instalment of a debt pardon worth 17.5 million euros,” the French ambassador said, adding that the money will help finance studies in the field of professional qualification.
Of the 17.5 million euros in the current 2015-2019 period, 10 million has been allocated to the state budget, two million to the environment and 5.5 million to vocational training.
“These studies in the vocational training area will contribute to decision-making on tourism and energy funding from 2016 to 2019,” the ambassador explained.
The agreement signed on Friday, he said, is clear proof that the two countries are maintaining close diplomatic and business cooperation.
