Mozambique and Angola strengthen cooperation in the Tourism sector
An Ilha de Moçambique tour operator has won first prize for Responsible Tourism for its involvement of local communities in tourism cultural activities.
The prize was announced at the World Travel Market in Cape Town, South Africa, where Mozambique participated with eleven private sector tour operators and the National Conservation Areas Administration (ANAC), including Gorongosa National Park.
It was another opportunity for the ANAC to publicize ongoing activities in national parks and reserves with tourism potential supported by the government and the World Bank as part of the MozBin biodiversity project.
The parks selected are those with the best conditions, and with markets already established both in the region and in other parts of the world, and include Maputo Special Reserve and the Ponta D’Ouro Partial Marine Reserve, where access routes are being improved.
This was the second year ANAC has participated in the Tourism and Business Fair. Other entries included the Bazaruto Archipelago in Inhambane and the Quirimbas Archipelago in Cabo Delgado.
